Getting a removal vehicle to your door in Toulouse
The order that holds the kerb
Road space in Toulouse is reserved by a municipal order, applied for through the city's own portal on a five-step form that opens with a login. The city asks for the request at least five working days before the date, and ten where traffic will be obstructed. A closed street is allowed only between nine in the morning and four in the afternoon.
Signs go up the day before
An order on its own holds nothing. Someone in the city has to erect stationnement interdit et gênant boards, the French no-parking signs, at least twenty-four hours ahead and email photographs of them to the municipal police. Toulouse is explicit that without both steps the fourrière, the vehicle pound, will not tow a car standing in your space.
Nine metres inside the boulevards
A permanent order closes every street inside boulevards de Strasbourg, d'Arcole, Armand-Duportal and du Maréchal Leclerc to vehicles longer than nine metres. Toulouse repeats that limit on the very page where a removal order is applied for, which makes it the first thing to settle about a central address — before the kerb, and before the staircase.
The Zone à faibles émissions
The low-emission zone takes in the city inside the périphérique, with the rocade Arc-en-Ciel and the fil d'Ariane along its western side; the Métropole names only Toulouse, Tournefeuille and Colomiers as covered. Crit'Air 4, 5 and unclassified vehicles have been shut out since 2023, and the disc is wanted for standing in the zone as much as for driving through it.
Bollards on the pedestrian streets
Parts of the centre are shut by retractable bollards, and the categories Toulouse publishes for access to a zone réservée, among them residents, businesses working there, delivery firms and residents' own visitors, do not include removals. If your door is behind one, say so at your survey: the request to the Mairie has to be made long before the day.
How this shows up in your quote. The quote asks about each end of the move. Tick “parking suspension or permit required” or “narrow street” for the Toulouse end and each is priced as its own line, along with the floor and whether there is a lift. A furniture hoist is not part of the online price: show us the stairs and windows at your survey and, where one is needed, it is priced then.

Both sit inside the central perimeter, so the nine-metre limit, the midday ban on combustion deliveries and the bollarded streets all bite here.
Colomiers
Its own commune, and its town hall wants the request at least three weeks ahead. The International School of Toulouse is here, taking pupils from three to eighteen.
Blagnac

Saint-Cyprien
The left bank. Its eastern edge along the allées Charles-de-Fitte falls inside the mapped central perimeter, so check which side of that line your door is.
Côte Pavée and Bonnefoy
Faubourgs of toulousaines: single-storey brick terraces of three to five window bays, built on the street line with the garden behind and no driveway.
Busca and Chalets-Concorde
Gabled maisons à pignons stand back from the road behind a fence and gate, some with a raised ground floor reached by external steps.
Minimes
North of the Canal du Midi, another faubourg of toulousaines and gabled villas, so expect a frontage on the pavement and a rear garden.
The road from the UK to Toulouse
Route: Eurotunnel or ferry to Calais, the A26 past Arras, round Paris onto the A10, then the A20 through Limoges and Cahors — about 600 miles from Calais.
The Paris ring is the decision on this run. A driver who would rather miss it goes west through Rouen and Chartres instead, which is further. After that it is the A20 the whole way down through Limoges and Cahors, with toll barriers rather than tunnels or passes to plan round.

When to move
Marathon Sunday
The Toulouse marathon runs on Sunday 1 November 2026, starting early on boulevard d'Arcole, finishing on boulevard Lazare Carnot and crossing place du Capitole, the Canal du Midi and the Île du Ramier. Central streets close for it, Jean-Jaurès metro station shuts, and the date is Toussaint, a public holiday.
Market mornings, and the Christmas month
The Marché Cristal occupies boulevard de Strasbourg from Tuesday to Sunday, from seven in the morning until half past one, on one of the streets bounding the central perimeter. From late November to the end of December chalets fill place du Capitole, the allées Jean-Jaurès and the allées Jules-Guesde. Both take away kerb space a vehicle would otherwise use.
The rentrée, and the summer Saturdays
Toulouse schools sit in holiday zone C and the year opened on Tuesday 1 September 2026, which is why family moves pile into July and August. Those are also the months carrying the extra summer Saturday bans on heavy lorries, fixed each year and published before the season, so a July date is worth settling early rather than late.
Paperwork once you arrive in Toulouse
Validating a long-stay visa
The Haute-Garonne prefecture sends new arrivals to the national ANEF portal rather than to its own counters. A long-stay visa marked VLS-TS has to be validated online within three months of arriving, with the visa, the passport page showing your date of entry, your Toulouse address and a card for the tax stamp.
The justificatif de domicile
Toulouse publishes what it accepts as proof of address, and the list is short: home insurance, an internet, electricity, gas or water bill, or an official rent receipt, each under three months old. Lodging with someone means a signed attestation d'hébergement, a copy of both sides of their identity document, and something in your own name at the address.
Customs when moving to France
France applies EU transfer-of-residence relief. You will need a detailed valued inventory, proof of at least twelve months' UK residence, and evidence of a French address. Goods must have been owned and used for six months or more.

Moving from Toulouse back to the UK
Loading out of Toulouse meets the city on the terms a delivery does: the same municipal order over the kerb, the same limit on length inside the boulevards, the same boards standing the day before. The carry simply runs the other way: a flat behind a porte cochère has to come down the staircase it went up, and the survey is where that is measured.

My flat is up a staircase in a brick block with a courtyard behind. What do you need to know?
The carry, more than the floor. Many central buildings put a second block round a courtyard, reached through a porte cochère, the carriage entrance off the street, so the run from kerb to door can be longer than the climb. Pace it out, photograph the porte cochère and the courtyard, and say whether the stair turns tightly at the bottom.
Is an address in Blagnac or Colomiers handled the same way?
No, each is a commune of its own with its own paperwork. Colomiers wants the request at its town hall at least three weeks before the occupation begins. Blagnac uses a form returned at least ten working days ahead, with a photograph of the parking spot, and asks for Tisséo's opinion near the tram. Other metropole towns run their own versions again.
Can the lorry work through the middle of the day in the centre?
Not on petrol or diesel. Inside the central delivery perimeter only electric, gas-powered and pedal vehicles may serve an address between half past eleven in the morning and seven at night, and a stop on a marked delivery bay is capped at thirty minutes with a blue disc showing. Whether a removal under a granted order escapes that is not published, so plan an early start.
