Before the survey or after it, whichever suits you — online, by card. The deposit holds the vehicle and the date. If the survey changes the price and you would rather not go ahead, you get the full deposit back. Otherwise our terms and conditions set out what we charge if you postpone or cancel.
Sort the paperwork in your own portal
You get a private page for your move: the customs checklist for France and somewhere to upload each document. If you listed your items one by one, that list is already there — add a rough value to each line and it becomes the valued inventory customs ask for.
Collection in the UK, delivery in Paris
On a shared load you choose the collection day and we give you a delivery window, confirming the day itself once the vehicle has cleared customs. With a vehicle of your own, both dates are yours. The balance is due on the day we collect.

Paris is priced in Zone 2 — Paris, Randstad, Rhineland. These are indicative part-load bands for the transport and the £180 customs documentation fee. Getting a removal vehicle to your door in Paris
Where the AOT is filed, and what it buys
The permit is issued by the City through its own online service, and the request is wanted at least fifteen days before the date. It is tied to you rather than to a length of kerb: if the spot outside the door is taken on the morning, the vehicle may use any free paid bay nearby, which is the whole of the advantage it confers.
Conditions attached to the permit
Moving work runs between seven in the morning and eight at night unless the City authorises otherwise. Registration numbers must be declared online before the vehicle reaches the address, and the permit is displayed in the windscreen whenever the vehicle stands off a paid bay. A complaint or an obvious obstruction withdraws the permit on the spot.
Monte-meubles, and the rules around them
A monte-meubles — the external furniture lift that stands on Paris pavements — is covered by the same permit, and the City sets conditions on how it is rigged. There must be a safety zone that keeps people from walking underneath: a fenced footway or a marshal on the ground, with a second operator working at height. High wind, thick fog, snow or frost stops the lift.
The low-emission zone around the city
Paris sits inside the Zone à faibles émissions métropolitaine, which covers everything within the A86 ring; the A86 itself is outside it, the Périphérique and both Bois inside. The Métropole grants passes and derogations of its own, and Parliament's vote to abolish the French zones was struck down by the Conseil constitutionnel in May, so the zone is in force.
Streets that close, and the ones you may still enter
The central arrondissements sit inside a limited-traffic zone: through traffic is barred, but a vehicle with a job at an address inside it counts as destination traffic and may enter. On Sundays whole neighbourhoods shut to cars under Paris Respire, and a move may still pass on proof of address for the dwelling, alongside the permit.
How this shows up in your quote. The quote asks about each end of the move. Tick “parking suspension or permit required” or “narrow street” for the Paris end and each is priced as its own line, along with the floor and whether there is a lift. A furniture hoist is not part of the online price: show us the stairs and windows at your survey and, where one is needed, it is priced then.

16th arrondissement — Passy, La Muette, Auteuil
The International School of Paris keeps its three campuses here. Wide Haussmann frontages, but courtyards and porte-cochère headroom decide what reaches the door.
The Marais and Montmartre
Sunday is the problem here, not the stairs: both sit inside Paris Respire closures. Pick a weekday, and say how far the door is from a loadable kerb.
Neuilly-sur-Seine
Marymount International School sits on boulevard de la Saussaye. Unlike Paris, the town will actually hold a space for you — but not on a Sunday or a public holiday.
Saint-Cloud
The American School of Paris is on rue Pasteur. Three departmental roads through the town belong to the State, not the mairie, so the request goes elsewhere.
Saint-Germain-en-Laye
The Lycée International's British Section draws families here. The town caps a reservation at fifteen metres, three parking spaces — measure the vehicle before applying.
Croissy-sur-Seine
The British School of Paris has its senior and junior campuses here. Whoever applies also puts the no-parking signs out beforehand; the town does not.
Courbevoie, beside La Défense
Flats in and around the La Défense towers load through a goods lift on a booked slot. Courbevoie asks for less notice than its neighbours, and supplies no signage.
The road from the UK to Paris
Route: Eurotunnel from Folkestone or the Dover ferry, then the A26 to Arras and the A1 to the Porte de la Chapelle — about 180 miles from Calais.
The A1 comes in over Saint-Denis and ends on the Périphérique, so a vehicle is inside the low-emission zone long before the last junction. What decides the arrival hour here is the Île-de-France lorry restrictions and the traffic, not the distance from Calais.

When to move
Sunday costs you twice
The neighbourhood closures fall on Sunday, and so does the national ban on lorries over seven and a half tonnes: it runs from ten on Saturday night to ten on Sunday night, and the removals exemption covers office and factory moves, not households. Vehicles at or below that weight are outside it.
Monday mornings in the western suburbs
A lorry over seven and a half tonnes cannot reach the western suburbs on the A13 on a Monday morning before ten, nor on the A12; the usual exemptions are switched off for those roads. Saint-Cloud, Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Croissy sit on that corridor. The A86 Duplex tunnel bars anything over two metres tall, so it is no way round.
Dates worth checking first
Paris, Créteil and Versailles share school-holiday Zone C; the 2026–27 breaks start in mid-October, just before Christmas, in early February, in early April and on the third of July. Big events are the other hazard: they shut streets and suspend parking for days at a time, so check the City's current announcements before you fix a date.
Paperwork once you arrive in Paris
A Mon Paris account, and two requests
The AOT is filed on the City's own service, and that service needs a Mon Paris account. The City's page does not say who may apply, so expect to open the account yourself. A move from one Paris address to another takes two requests: one for the address you leave, one for the address you arrive at.
Proof of the address you are moving into
Two Paris rules want paper from you rather than from us, and the same document answers both. A lease or a recent utility bill for the dwelling proves you live at the address the permit names, and it is the evidence of settling in France that the customs file wants. Nothing else you collect locally does both jobs.
Addresses near institutions and embassies
Some Paris streets need more than the standard file. Near institutions and embassies — which is a good deal of the seventh, eighth and sixteenth arrondissements — the City may ask for further documents and for the agreement of the neighbouring institutions before it issues the permit. Allow longer than fifteen days there, and say so when you book your survey.
Customs when moving to France
France applies EU transfer-of-residence relief. You will need a detailed valued inventory, proof of at least twelve months' UK residence, and evidence of a French address. Goods must have been owned and used for six months or more.

Moving from Paris back to the UK
Going the other way, the Paris end still needs its own permit and its own fifteen days, because an empty vehicle waiting to load is occupying the street just as a full one is. Tell the French tax office your address abroad before you go; the following year's returns go to the office that held your file.

How long does a removal to Paris take?
Transit to Paris is typically 2–6 days door to door. We run weekly, both directions. A part load waits for its scheduled run and is given a delivery window; a dedicated vehicle travels direct on the date you choose.
Do I need a permit to park a removal lorry in Paris?
Not strictly — the AOT is optional. Without it the vehicle may stand on a paid bay for six consecutive hours at most, it may not use a loading bay, bus lane or pavement, and no furniture lift may be raised. The City asks for the request at least fifteen days before the date, and a late one may not be processed in time.
My flat is on the sixth floor of a Haussmann block with a tiny lift. What then?
Large pieces go out through a window on a monte-meubles rather than down the stairs. Measure the lift car and the turns on the staircase before your survey, tell us the floor, and photograph the window and the footway below it — the footway is what decides whether a lift can be rigged at all.
Can a removal vehicle get into the Marais on a Sunday?
Yes, with paperwork. Paris Respire closes whole neighbourhoods to traffic on Sundays, the Marais and Montmartre among them, each on its own hours. The City lets a move through on production of proof of address for the dwelling concerned, in addition to the AOT. A weekday is simpler.
Does a UK-registered van or lorry need anything to drive into Paris?
Yes, a Crit'Air sticker: it is compulsory for driving in any French low-emission zone, and a vehicle registered abroad is not exempt. The application can only be made online, through the government's own service for foreign plates, so it is not something that can be sorted at the tunnel. Order it well before the load date.
Which permit applies if I am moving to Neuilly rather than into Paris itself?
The commune's own, and it works the other way round: these towns will hold a space, where Paris will not. Neuilly-sur-Seine wants ten days' notice, Saint-Germain-en-Laye fourteen calendar days, Saint-Cloud and Croissy-sur-Seine fifteen, Courbevoie seven. A move with a Paris address at one end and a suburb at the other has to satisfy both systems for one date.
Can the lorry stop on a delivery bay outside my building?
For half an hour, unless the AOT says otherwise. Paris limits any stop on an aire de livraison to thirty minutes, timed with a European parking disc. A shared bay reverts to ordinary parking in the evening and on Sundays, but that is not when you are loading. Thirty minutes is a few boxes, not a flat — which is what the permit is for.
